Classic Wedding Flowers That’ll Never Go Out of Style

Trends come and go but there’s always a place for those tried-and-true wedding flower favourites that’ll never go out of style. Some of my top favourite classic wedding flowers include puffy peonies, luscious ranunculus, frilly lisianthus, stately delphiniums, and luxurious garden roses.

Peonies have long been used in bridal bouquets to represent a long and happy marriage and 2024 is no different- they’re as popular today as they’ve ever been. They symbolize love, harmony, prosperity and good fortune.  In Chinese culture, peonies were known as ‘the royal flower’ and ‘the flower of riches and honor’. They come in shades of pink, coral and white and create luxury and boldness when used in floral designs.  AKA They’re big and puffy!

Ranunculus symbolize delicate romance and charm, ranunculus were traditionally gifted to someone who was attractive and charming.  They were also used as tool in divination to help manifestation come to life… MAGIC. They are one of the most popular flowers for weddings which is no surprise as they help to create that whimsical loose feeling that sweeps you right off of your feet.

Lisianthus is another one of my classic favs and is often mistaken for a tiny rose. It represents appreciation, unchanging love, charisma, charm, confidence and gratitude between a couple. It also helps to create that loose romantic feel in bouquets and is one of my favourites to use in corsages and boutonnières. It also comes in a variety of different shades which makes it super popular for weddings.

Delphiniums are said to aid in ‘transcending the bounds of space and time’.  They’re known to represent heaven, romance, light-heartedness and the heart of a dreamer, all according to the Victorian language of flowers. They also provide height in arrangements and bouquets giving them that extra wow factor, and they come in shades of light blue, blue and purple- perfect for those classic dreamy creations.

Roses are one of my design signatures and I add them to each wedding I create florals for. They will forever be popular!  They fit into every design style and come in so many different colours and shapes that it’s hard not to find a place for them. If you follow me, you’ll know that I believe that the rose symbolizes the heart and as it opens and expands so does the love a couple shares together.

Last but not least let’s not forget the fluffy filler and the greenery. A mix of all three are essential for creating the perfect set of classic wedding florals!
