Arrangement Shapes and Styles

Flowers have been long used as a means of expression that only they can convey. They bring a joy and a vibe that only they can give. Their splendid beauty captures attention wherever they are and a great design makes that all the more apparent! I’ve listed my top 7 favourite flower design shapes and styles below.  Which one is your favourite?

S-Shaped Flower Arrangements are just as the name suggests…they’re created in the shape of the letter ‘S’ and are also known as Hogarth Designs. They are the epidemy of sophistication, uniqueness and elegance. Each flower is placed in the perfect position to create the extraordinary, curvy, and glamourous ‘S’ shape that makes it so special. Place these special pieces in prime locations where they can wow your guests and loved ones!

Oval Flower Arrangements are a super popular design for any occasion and can be placed just about anywhere! The oval design lends itself perfectly to bouquets, baskets, and vase arrangements. These arrangements tend to appear dense and bushy making them look extravagant and perfect for any ceremony or reception table décor.

Horizontal Flower Arrangements are usually created in shallow containers and are mostly used on tables and mantels where huge focal flowers are used along with branches and leaves descending toward the ground. Hydrangeas, garden roses, and peonies are favourite flower choices for these long horizontal masterpieces making them appear luxurious and extravagant.

Vertical Flower Arrangements provide endless creative possibilities! Vertical arrangements are a favourite for weddings and celebrations in larger venues, like ballrooms, churches and outdoor spaces. Commonly used flowers for vertical flower arrangements are ones with long sturdy stems to give them the height and looseness required for their design. The taller the flower arrangement, the more impactful the impression it has on your loved ones.

Fan Shape Flower Arrangements are one of the most commonly used and classic styles of design.  They can be large or small, and as the name states, flowers and leaves are arranged in an outward position just like the shape of a fan. Fillers are used to fill the empty spaces between the flowers, allowing the florist to use either one type or multiple types of flowers for the arrangement.  This type of arrangement adds a beautiful aura to any room, perfect for a romantic bohemian celebration.

Crescent Flower Arrangements are one-of-a-kind and are designed in the shape of a ‘C’ just like a crescent moon.  How romantic is that? Crescent shaped arrangements offer graceful curved lines and a whimsical ambiance which lends itself to ethereal themed celebrations and baby showers. Just add white- or pastel-coloured flowers for instant swoon potential.

Triangular Flower Arrangements are mostly utilized in wedding ceremonies and receptions.  The tallest flower stem or the prominent flower is placed in the center with other flowers arranged downwards on the sides to maintain the triangular shape. These arrangements look great on pillars and pedestals flanking ceremony aisles and can be reused at the reception for maximum bang for your buck!
